Project Overview

Timeline: 2 weeks

Description: Conduct user testing and interviews to find interface issues that cause less user traffic. Redesign website for web and mobile powered by Shopify Plus since client would like to continue adding to product inventory and availability as needed.

User Persona

For user persona I decided that it was best to focus on the Lash Artist point of view. This website carries two user types the client and the artist. The client would normally navigate to website and hit Book Now and be done!

For the Lash artist they could navigate to products or training to purchase.

During user interviews I found that most users had trouble finding the products they needed as lash artist to purchase. The color theory was overwhelming on the eye and the pictures and navigation wasn’t clear or concise. (Previous design below)

“The buttons are in a weird spot”

“I wish I could filter the products instead of A-Z”

“I wish I could see better photos of the products”

Problem Statement

Lisa wants to purchase products for her lash business to conduct services. She has struggled in the past to find local distributors that can deliver products quickly and efficiently. She finds Lashes by Lex through word of mouth and views her shop page. She finds it is difficult to filter products based on what she needs but doesn’t want that to affect her purchasing from this small business who is known for valuable products. How might we remedy her frustrations in finding her products easily?

Empathy Map

From the empathy map I was able to clearly point out which areas of the website I needed to focus on.

  • Colors
  • Layout
  • Product Images/Descriptions
  • Navigation/Filtering

Style Guide

I created this style guide to commence the gist of the website. Since I would be designing for Shopify Plus, when I would normally use Figma or Adobe XD to design a Mockup. I created a mockup using the trial version of Shopify to then show the client exactly how their site would look.

Low Fidelity Prototypes

Prototype Mockups

Iteration

After creating sketches, I conducted user interviews and found that users enjoyed the navigation and layout more.

The client also enjoyed how the website was presenting after first review.

High Fidelity Prototypes

Lashes By Lex Website

Finally creating the high fidelity prototypes, I moved the designs into the clients existing website and published for her to use and sell products and services!

Thanks for reading :)
